Creatures great and small roam freely in our early-evening family concert, marking the end of FSO’s celebratory 60th anniversary season.

Local schoolchildren will join the orchestra for Kate Whitley’s lively orchestral animal portraits, and we continue the theme with excerpts from Tchaikovsky’s first great ballet score, Swan Lake, one of the most popular pieces in the orchestral repertoire.

In The Cunning Little Vixen, Janáček blends folk-derived melodies with lush orchestration to evoke a glorious, life-affirming journey through the cycles of life. We complete the musical menagerie with suites from John Williams’ blockbuster film scores for Jurassic Park and E.T., featuring creatures from the distant past and a far-off planet.
